Intake manifold bolt question
I'm missing a few intake manifold bolts on a spare 1940 flathead, are they all the same length?, can I use hardware store replacements?, are they grade 5 or 8. Thanks

Re: Intake manifold bolt question
You can use hardware store replacements. Grade 5. Measure the depth of each missing hole and you can easily determine what length you need. You can saw longer bolts and make them shorter, if needed. I don't remember if all bolts are the same length but, I think they are.

Re: Intake manifold bolt question
The correct bolts are "thick headed" in variety. if that does not matter to you just use the regular grade 5 bolts as 19Fordy says.

Re: Intake manifold bolt question
Just another thought. Don't over torque those bolts. 23-28 ft. lbs max.

Re: Intake manifold bolt question
Not all same length.
16, 3/8 X 16 2.25" 4, 3/8 X 16 1.25" Don't forget the thin flat washers especially if intake is aluminum. |
