Rear Wheel Steel Washer
Hello All,
Apparently I lost the steel washers that go between the fiber washer and the axle nut. If you have one laing around, could you please measure the thickness along with the ID and OD diameter's? Perhaps I can find some at Osh Hardware or make a pair instead of waiting for them in the mail. Thank You Regards Bill |

Re: Rear Wheel Steel Washer
Those washers are thick and hard. Ordinary ones from the hardware store are too soft. I'd wait for the right thing and do the job once. I'd send you a pair only the ones form the southern hemisphere are left handed.

Re: Rear Wheel Steel Washer
Syncro909,
Thank's for the reply but it looks like I got lucky. Osh Hardware had some that worked, they are grade 8, part # 87745. They are 9/16 ID, 1.450" OD with a width of .134". They will do the job until I'm in the neighborhood of a local vendor. Regards Bill |

I bought 2 from Bratton's and they were too soft, I went to the local CAT dealer and got 2. Dropped one on a concrete floor and could hear a nice ring from it.

Osh Hardware has them in Grade 8 and in Grade 5, so I bought a pair of both. The Grade 5's were .49¢ and the 8's were $2.00 each. The 8's are quite pricey, but in a pinch what's one to do, beside's I needed to pick up some Sta-lube drum grease, they are the only one's around here that carry it consistently. Come to think of it, it might be why they alway's have a lot of dust on the lid's. Regards Bill |
