Default Rear suspension

I recently purchased a 31 A coupe, that has many modifications. My question is the rear suspension. Whenever i hit uneven surfaces the rear suspension tends to make quite a bit of noise. I went underneath and it looks like the top of spring hits the top of the vehicle. How can i go about this? Thanks

Originally there was a piece of frame webbing riveted to the body to stop metal to metal contact

It may well be "spring shackle connection" wear. The spring perch which is part of the rear trumpet housings is prone to wear because of the constant loading of the car. I have seen these shackle connection points worn practically through to dropping the shackle.

A lot of wear and lack of grease may be what you're hearing?

WOW, I don't think it should go quite that far.

If you take the spring out, check to see that the top leaf is rounded to fit into the crossmember.

Thank you all for the replies. I forgot to mention the suspension is not original.

All bets are off. Can't really help you with that setup but something must be loose up there.

referring to the "modifications", a picture would help.

You can see were the 4 bar upper mount is hitting the rear crossmember,
which is in the 3rd. photo. Get under the car and spend some time looking..

Someone at HAMB probably has had similar issues.
