The coil in my tudor is not an original coil, as it has the separate bracket, but it has been on the firewall pointed down since I bought it in 1975.

Studebaker used oil filled coil upside down for many years with no problems.

I installed a off the shelf coil from local Canadian Tire , on a 340 dodge demon, coil is bolted on its side onto intake manifold, 15 years later it stills works fine...
