Default Grounds

I'm gonna add more grounds.

Based on what I read:

One from battery to frame and one from engine to frame.

I have two questions 1) engine to frame what bolt is best? I'd rather not use a head bolt. 2) what size cable is suggested for secondary ground?

Thanks Andy

The best way is to go direct to engine with ground, that is were you need the power for starter.
I have a 47 ford and I have a braided cable to body then another from body to engine head bolt. You could try the intake rear bolt.
The 59a the trans is so far back the head bolt is easy.
I guess the best place is down under to a trans bolt.

Thanks. Right now I have a braided from battery to firewall and a second braided from engine to firewall. Today I added a ground from a trans bolt to frame. Tomorrow I plan to add a second from the one that's braided from battery to firewall - the new one I'll take from firewall to frame.

That good?

I like welding cable made up with ends; for 6 volt. Like 2/0 or 00. Local forklift place makes them up around here. Cables has more strains and is thicker then 12g. Which is the least guage for 6 volt you might want to use. 8yrs no problems for me.

Battery to frame, body connection, Frame to engine.

Hi Andy
On my 39 Standard Coupe, which has a different battery location from yours, I have a ground from Battery to firewall, firewall to engine, and transmission to frame.
The grounds have never caused any issues.
Can't imagine that you need another, but you never know

Boss - thanks for your offer, I may take you up on it. Hope to see ya soon.

Jim - That's exactly how I now have mine setup. I'm curious, do you recall what size wire you used for Tranny to frame?

Andy
I also used welding cable and after just looking at it appears to be the same size as the battery to ground, probably 2-0
I,m sure you could use something smaller, but I had the cable, and used it
