Best and worst seats/driving position

Which Model A body style do you consider has the best seats and driving position, and which do you consider has the worst?

Okay, for someone about 5'9" (175cm), not so thin.

My back is very sensitive to seats and driving positions. I only have expeieience with roadsters and my 31 is one of the mosf comfortable cars I have ever been in and may others tell me the same. My 28 roadster is good but like all 28 and 29's they have less legroom than the 30-31s so for me not as comfortable.

For my six one, 200 pound frame my 45B '30 Coupe seems to fit the best and is better for me than my 40B '31 Roadster. A close second for best fit would be my 155B '29 Briggs Town Sedan. The 155A '29 Murray Town Sedan is much tighter. Worst for me is my friends '29 Roadster pickup. Gar Williams

This illustrates and important point. These two models were essentially identical when new. Now if you throw into the mix either weakened original springs OR new springs which are traditionally too stiff you are comparing apples to oranges. Below is a link to something I posted awhile back that relates somewhat. BTW, my low mileage Deluxe Fordor is incredibly comfortable.

Trucks are the least comfortable for everybody, but seem to be the most popular body style for non-Model A people.

tudors have the longest doors (ez access) & the drivers seat is adjustable .

Actually Victoria/400A doors are longer. The only Tudor with an adjustable driver's seat was the Deluxe Tudor.

For me the Fordor has a great seating setup. A 30-31 Roadster with original seat springs is good too.

Worst: Swing away seat on Model A Standrive.

After standrive, mail truck would fit well with the 5 or 6 inch thick flat seat cushion and 2 inch thick backrest, creating that perfect 90 degree seat......

Cabriolet is stunning, but swinging size 14 Brogans between the cowl panel and front of the seat is cumbersome. 6'4", 220 lbs. Would consider removing the package tray for more (any) legroom, but only if the process were reversible and my head didnt ride against the light curtain with the top up.

My elderly Labrador thinks running boards are the genteel things for ladies making a graceful entry and exit. The window sills are also perfectly placed for ignoring the fawning crowds taking her picture while she does the "Queen Elizabeth" gaze at her loyal subjects. Seat height ideal, double locking door handle just made for leaning against the door.

'30 Coupe is the most comfy for me, '30 Phaeton is nice too, but I have a heck of a time getting in and out the little door, low top, and windwings in the way.

I'm glad my 28 Phaeton never had windwings installed. I also find them to be in the way when I ride in my friend's 31 Phaeton.

5'11", 200 lbs, 68 years old; 1930-1931 Coupe with the addition of a rolled-up towel for increased lumbar support (personal opinion).

In my experience I have had the opportunity to drive the late Owen Owens Town Car on several occasions( one was for my eldest daughters wedding). I WAS 6'1 1/2 and it was very un comfortable!!!! The seat back was verticle and very little cushion.

Coupes are the best riding/driving, but Tudors (including vicky's and a400's) are easiest to get in and out of, but their seats are not comfortable at all. A town sedan is the happiest medium and is pretty comfortable.

The secret is to restore them so they fit you. My Sportscoupe was incredibly comfortable and easy to get in and out of but the Phaeton wasn't. I took 1/2 inch out of the front seat depth on the back and base of the phaeton and now is great Karl
