I have a 59a block that has a crack on #6 between the cylinder and intake valve. Blocks are getting harder to find.
Can I sleeve this and what is the best way to do this?
Where to buy the sleeve?

If the crack can be seen at each end usually they can be repaired ,a pic would help , a qualified machine shop should be able to tell you if it is possible , I buy most of my cylinder sleeves from L.A. Sleeve or Falcon global, Last sleeve I bought was around $30, it will require an experienced machinist to install it, they tell me about $100.00 U.S. per hole these days. for cracks I use Irontite pins mostly
however there are several good methods used today ,I just use what works best for me .

Sounds like it will have to be stitched also. with overlapping pins.

I don’t have pictures but it goes from the cylinder wall to the intake port.

Does it (the crack) go past the seat down into the port?

As long as you have a way to drill the end of the crack you can pin it...to far down the valve pocket and you are in bad trouble...

It's a good idea to remove the hardened valve seat in order to evaluate valve pocket cracks. That's the only way to see the crack from one end to the other. Pinning can be performed a ways down into the pocket but there are limitations to where a drill bit and tap tools will fit to do the pin job. Having one sleeved is the least of the problems. Some folks don't even sleeve a cylinder for a pinned crack but most shops would recommend it due to the possibility of warranty problems for the work.

At our shop we repair those cracks with threaded pins, then resurface the deck of the block. We also replace all valve seats while the engine is apart as a regular part of the job. Cracks in the area of the valves is common. If there are any cracks at the bottom of the cylinder bore, sleeving usually isn't recommended.
