Default A Interesting 1934 Ford Brochure I Found over 20 years Ago

Interesting that it says "Air Conditioning" but it for a hot air heater. I wonder how many of these were sold. This is a genuine Ford Brochure.

I bought a very nice '36 Tudor in the fall of 1959 that had a manifold heater like that. My dad immediately had me remove it and replace it with a regular exhaust pipe, saying "Those damn things will leak and kill ya'". Of course, I threw it in the trash when I was done.

tubman, I also wondered about those heaters, as all they were are heat exchangers that must have rotted out internally and brought in carbon monoxide into the cabin. I wonder how many, "he fell asleep at the wheel", were really over come by the carbon monoxide fumes?

Henry Ford apparently thought hot air heaters were better than hot water heaters, so he continued to develop them and make them available for his cars.

I’ve still got some of the pieces, including manifold, that were on my 35 when I got it.

"air condition your Ford" is technically correct, as you are conditioning the air with heat. Other companies, such as Nash, used similar terms. When what we now call "air conditioning" was known as "refrigeration" when it came into use. When you think of it, that is more correct, technically speaking!

Hmmmm
Volkswagen did it from 1939 to 1979, obviously with NO real issues. Imagine that!!!

Chevrolet did it, too, with the Corvair (with less than stellar results!).
