Default Professional Horn Rebuild Desired

One of my winter projects is to have my horn professionally gone over. Are there recommendations of places to consider. Thanks in advance.

I think the MARC and MAFTA clubs may have listings for services on stuff like this. I know of a fellow that rebuilds the little motor armatures for the Horns and electric wipers but I don't know if he does a whole horn or just the part a person needs that he can't do himself.

There used to be more guys doing this stuff but we only have so much time in this world.

Not sure if Jim Diehl is still rewinding horns, but he did a nice job on mine. As said, there are resources in all corners of the Model A world. Patience would be the key, it seems all of the people that do horns, speedometers, shocks and even engine work are quite busy, which is good for the hobby. IMO/kb

If your horn motor spins up well when power is connected (straight from a battery, not from the wiring harness), I would suggest you can do the tune-up yourself. I did one recently and I made a video. It's genuinely not hard and doesn't take long. The video does assume that you have the red book handy for reference.

I am 76 and know nothing about the horn. Took mine apart put in new brushes and cleaned it up. It works better than others in my Model A Club.

Jim Diehl (Cadillac, MI) did mine in February of '21. I was very happy with his work, knowledge, professionalism, etc. Highly recommended.

Anyone searching this thread... I just spoke to Jim, very nice guy.

He is still working on Model A horns, says he has about 15 or so in the queue right now...

The number listed above (in post #8) he says he doesn't monitor that often.

The number I spoke to him on is 231-577-1375.
(He uses a robocall killer service that requires you to punch in a 1 after it answers to continue with the call.)

I did indeed have Jim rebuild my horn and couldn’t have been more pleased with the entire experience. I highly recommend his services and communication.
