Default $64,000 Question!

On my 29 Tudor there is a small “pulley” type gadget mounted on the front of the crossmember under the front seats just in front of the passenger seat. Does anybody know what it is! If I knew how to post a photo I would but don’t know how. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hard to tell without a picture. Sometimes those are mounted to attach a spring or a return cable to something, like the brake light switch.

I just looked under my ‘29 Tudor and I don’t have anything like that. I would love to see a picture.

There’s a pretty good tutorial on posting photos on the link below.

I might have found the answer to my $64,000 question! I contacted the son of a previous owner of my 29 Tudor. (He is 74 years old!). He said when he was a kid riding in this very car, he remembered his Dad had an “Exhaust Whistle.” This small gadget (pulley affair) was probably where the cable(wire) was routed to blow the whistle. Thanks to all who burned a few Brain Cells on my behalf

Exhaust whistles are neat. I had one on my Model T and would use it all the time. It sounded like a train whistle. I would blow it in the tunnels on the parkway and people thought a train was coming. You can modulate it like a steam train to make the "lonesome whistle" sound.
