Car has all new wiring, soldered connections and GREAT grounds. I could see zero difference in a blacked out shop. In my opinion, do not waste your money.

Re: led tail light bulbs
I put some real white paper around my bulbs to brighten it up a little more.

Re: led tail light bulbs
I don't know about 6V but I put some complete 12V LED light conversions in the rear of my 40 and there was a significant increase in brightness, much safer.

Re: led tail light bulbs
i have found that LED bulbs used with certain stock lenses don't always work. Tried this on my '48 and there was no difference. I finally went with the LED inserts which have their own lens from United Pacific. World of difference.

Re: led tail light bulbs
I got mine on eBay from China, found all sorts or them for pretty cheap money.

Re: led tail light bulbs
LED bulbs have a light frequency (cycles) that is not compatible with many OEM light lenses. LEDs will not penetrate certain glass/plastic chemistries.

Re: led tail light bulbs
LEDs that are part of the red lens are super bright, no doubt about it. I cant comment on bulbs.

Re: led tail light bulbs
I have the stock clear parking light lenses on the front of my '48. The LED bulbs work perfect with the clear lens , but didn't work with the stock red tail light lens.

Re: led tail light bulbs
So far in my 53' Merc, I now have LED, taillights (brake, turn signal and back up), fog lights and head lights. Each of the applications, are now brightener than the original bulbs and I am happy with them. The car has maintained it's original appearance, which was a primary criteria when I started the LED conversion project.
