wheel construction
I rubbed a wheel rim down yesterday and noticed what looks like a weld join right across the rim.....inspection showed another rim with two such joins?about 12 inches apart at right angles to the rim.Is this how they were manufactured? or has someone done a repair?I thank you and look forward to your input.

Re: wheel construction
Vic, THAT is how they were manufactured with regard to the first rim. Often times this was highly visible in the paint when the wheel was originally dipped, ...yet is lost during restoration. Regarding the 2nd rim, in my mind, at right angles would mean 90 degrees in relation to each other and I have never encountered this. Could you post a picture?
