Default 36 pickup front bumper brackets, location?

It's been quite awhile sense I took my front bumper brackets of the pickup. I was sure they sandwich the frame, one on each side of the frame. I just saw a 34 pickup and both brackets were bolted together on one side of the frame. What is correct for the 36 pickup? Thanks Ron

The frame is sandwiched between the bumper arms.
