I have a towbar I made in high school, it has been on many model As, most will follow nicely, some want to shimmy, and a few will want to flop to steering lock, the ones that flop need the wheel tied.
The towbar I made fits to the bumper brackets ( the bumper is removed), it was made of 1" square steel, and the flat plate for mounting it has many holes to fit other cars now.
It has only been used to tow "dead" cars, I have not used it in the last 20 years, a stock model A is very reliable.

When I towed I would block the clutch down, but leave it in neutral, that way all the gears could move some and lube each other.

Remove the drag link so the car will "self steer". Remember to watch your speed.

Here's a shot of the tow bar on my roadster. I've never removed the drag link on any A or Jeep for flat towing.

I built a bar that fits the brackets after I pull the bumper. Car does nothing wrong and I don't touch the drag link.

I've flat towed Jeeps and A's and never unhooked anything.
My A's steering box needs a rebuild and when comming around the first corner
would not straighten out, so I had my wife tow me and I 'helped' steer the A.
It was kind of a nice ride, but my wife hates towing me and my broken stuff around.
