Default Installing Windshield Rubber in Stanchions

Is there a trick to installing the rubber in 28-29 Roadster stanchions? Also, which type is the correct one?

Chris: Leave extra on the ends if you can and trim after your windshield is installed. I cut my stanchion rubbers too short and installed the windshield later, leaving a gap at the bottom on the passenger side. My wife got wet in a rainstorm from water pouring in through that gap. Guess who got reamed out?
