Default Name of fitting?

Hello folks. What is the name of the coolant fitting near the front center of the intake on a 292? (The one that runs to the heater core) Just found mine to be pretty corroded/thin and would like to replace it.

The one that screws into the intake manifold is called a Heater Control Valve-Vacuum. Part # 18495 I think. This one?

No, mine is just a short one in an L shape without the silver thing on top in the picture. It does look like it is screwed into the intake with a square top and the hose fitting coming out the side of that square.

This is a generic one I picked up out of a search. These require a control valve either at the heater or in line in the hose. I don’t know what trucks used, or how your’s is set up. I just googled “heater hose fitting”. You can also get them with a petcock style shut off, to close off the heater in the summer. I don’t know either one is the right thread and hose combo, so check that.

Thanks Mike, I found that one too and ordered it. My heater has a control valve on the hose that goes to the heater core.

Looking in the Mac's catalog, they show a manual shutoff valve for '49-'59 Fords part # FDA-18495-D. $20.99
It is basically the same as the standard "L" shaped elbow, except this one has a shutoff valve on top.

90 degree hose nipple or barb are likely still available from a few sources. The thread size (National Pipe Thread) and the hose size (ID) would be it's reference.
