What are these Model A panels?
A friend gave me some leftover parts from when he had a 1930 Model A coupe 10 years ago. Among the parts are these new replacement panels that I cannot ID. They are curved on one end so I am wondering if they go above the door opening at the edge of the roof? Hoping someone can tell me what they are so I can try to sell them. Thanks in advance. Paul

Re: What are these Model A panels?
Early cars had a different shape fender and differences in the hood so there was a different shape there as well. There were a lot of changes during the first model year of production.

Re: What are these Model A panels?
Judging standards have a great breakdown of the differences.

Re: What are these Model A panels?
Reproduction sills are noted for not having the right curve where the frame bends down at the front. Sometimes need "persuading" for fit.

Re: What are these Model A panels?
I looked at JS for the subtle differences of the shelves & then checked my Canadian late '29 which is mostly original & with a complete known history.
It has the '28 style shelves with fuller curves at the chassis horns ; '28 type front splash apron without the top bead edge ; '29 style bonnet/hood clip pockets [pointed] & solid '28 type hood clips. Also Canada did not use the '29 type rad. shell with the 'bell'shape around the crank hole ;they did have the larger holes for the Twolight type headlamps however. Just shows that Ford at the various factories put on what was at hand to get the cars out. Cheers. |
