Window Regulators
Are the new regulators sold by vendors any good?
My back two windows have gotten to the point where one is frozen and the other requires a lot of persuasion. They're only like $45 a piece, so it's almost worth just buying a new one rather than buying an original and trying to make it work. Just wondering what y'alls experiences have been with these regulators.

Re: Window Regulators
Model A Times had a write-up on good/bad replacement window regulators. I'm afraid my copies aren't all that well organized so I can't put my finger on which vol./issue. Perhaps someone else can chime in.

Re: Window Regulators
The ones from Argentina aren't too good; don't know about the others. Try to find originals if you can. They cost about the same.

Re: Window Regulators
Humble Opinion:
Try calling a couple of the appreciated & trusted Model A vendors mentioned on this Forum recently. They have always given me truthful & helpful answers on the products they sell. Those mentioned have Model A's themselves & also they hear "all" of the praises & complaints on new products from their most trusted customers & are willing to share whatever they hear. |

Re: Window Regulators
Also, why is it that the driver window (the one used the most) is ALWAYS the one that goes up & down the easiest? confused....

Re: Window Regulators
I would guess it is because the dirt in the rail under the window is constantly displaced by the regular action of the regulator. Also, it could be a slight corrosion build up in and around the pivot points of the not so often used regulators.

Re: Window Regulators
If you are judging the action while still in the car you might save some money and be surprised how they might work after taking them to the bench and thoroughly cleaning and lubricating all movable parts. Take time to lube the rail on the window and make sure the window channel is in good condition and not too tight. I had a window that needed a few millimeters removed because it was too tight in the channel and now moves easily. if the window is too loose in the channel then it can cock and bind also.

Re: Window Regulators
A year ago I purchased 4 ( 2 each ) for a Cabriolet and a Roadster pickup truck that had been in long time storage from Snyders. Not a lot of use yet but also no problems whatsoever !
