Default Hints/tips to install/position air-cooled Fordomatic dip stick tube on 1956 Tbird?

It seems every next step presents a challenge. I’m having trouble installing the dip stick tube on an air-cooled Fordomatic in my 1956 T-bird. It seems to hit the outflow vent on the bell housing preventing the fitting from being level so as to thread the fitting. If I start the threads first then hitting the bell housing prevents positioning tube so bracket can attach to starter and tube to be positioned in correct manner.

Anyone else have a similar problem? Any hints?

Thanks

I got it sorted, I was routing it up from the bottom in the wrong place. Piece of cake once you do that.

I was gonna start by saying you need to hold the dipstick tube up above the bellhousing exhaust duct before beginning to thread the fitting into the fluid pan.
Next thing you will notice the annoying little bracket slides down toward you, but don't pay any attention to it until you get your fitting screwed into the fluid pan.
Leave the fitting a little loose then position the bracket in front of the bolt-hole on the starter and install the starter bolt thru the hole in the bracket and starter.
Now just tighten both the fitting and the starter bolt. Done!
