Default The XO/PP VA HAMB Special is off to Bonneville!

The XO/PP VA HAMB Special race truck is on its way to Bonneville. You should be able to open the following on the www.jalopyjournal.com website on the HAMB

https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/...ville.1117043/

If you cannot open the link, go to www.jalopyjournal.com and in the upper right hand corner create a simple username and password and try again. Go through the website, get used to it - we are on the HAMB main board - it's the first board you come across. Search for "XO/PP VA HAMB Special is ready for Bonneville" - one way or the other, you should be able to get through to the thread ....

Thanks for checking in on us!

The salt is the best it's been in years! The pics are a series as we made our way to our pit this am. We are parked next to Danny Thompson, across from the Rolling Bones, and Tim McMaster - we are in high cotton!

Yep, it's a 262 cubic inch Ford truck six cylinder engine. Relative of the 223.

Looks like a 4 banger, dual overhead valve conversion. I don't know which one.

This bad boy uses a stock block and head - everything else has been researched and built by the owner, johnrodz. It sounds like a BB when it's fired up ! 400+ hp!

First pass was about 12:20 eastern time, listening to the radio, they said 65.483 mph if I got it correctly. TomT said "we had a problem ...." over on the HAMB. Might be things are okay, it is their first shakedown run. Waiting on more reports.

Something had to be wrong. 400 hp doesn't equal 65 mph. Hope to run into Tom @ Hershey to talk about his trip

They made one more pass at 106. The 65mph pass was the trucks first ever pass and we assume he took it easy. Also reported a little glitch with the transition from push to driving that they were gonna adjust.
