Re: Steering wheel spline adaptor
I've never heard of an adapter, I cant see how it could possibly work without changing the length of the shaft. Most folks cut off the spline you want, and weld it to the shaft you want. A good weld is a must, and if its hollow I put a piece of tube inside. Thats for splines, on our early fords with a taper and a key I make a shim that fits nicely from key side around to key side. Make a paper pattern as they curve, then I have found that a tin can like a lacquer thinner can is about rite for thickness. I have a 30-31 model A wheel in my 34 jalopy because I like the 4 spoke wheel, and good ones are available. They are a larger diameter than the v8 shaft

Working on a 1936 DeSoto. The wheel im trying to install is from an 8 cylinder Chrysler. Apparently you got a thicker steering shaft on the 8 cylinder cars.
