Some Canadian Requirements for 2016 National Meet
I just got an email from one of the hosts for the 2016 National MARC meet in Niagara Falls, Canada concerning my inquiry regarding what details that might be needed to attend to if you were going to bring a car on a trailer to that event.
His response was that you would need to show a title for the trailer, a title for the car on the trailer and a title for the vehicle towing the trailer. In addition, it was mentioned that firearms are not permitted and they will either confiscate the fire arm or turn you away. I have experienced this and they are telling the truth. You will also need to have either a passport (around $100 or so) or a less expensive passport 'card'? ( I do not know much about this).

Sounds right and fair.

"Passport Card" might be what NYS calls "Enhanced Driver's License," which permits travel to Canada without a passport.
I would imagine other states have similar items which require additional ID's when renewing your driver's license. |

I was just talking to a friend of mine that is going to Canada for fishing. He got a driving passport card. He said it is different than a passport booklet to fly and cost is less. I didn't know that.

Michigan also has an "enhanced drivers license" for over the border trips.

Re: Some Canadian Requirements for 2016 National Meet
Just returned home from a round trip from Maine to Quebec. Have done it very often and have never been asked for a car title. ( but I have not tried to trailer an antique over either.) What they do ask is any: alcohol, fire arms, tobacco, pepper spray and gifts for people in Canada. Get the same routine at the Ontario-Michigan border.

It is 3 yars away, and the laws will change with border security issues. I am sure this thread will get quite lenghty as everyone is getting nervous already.
They can't really ask for the car your driving title, most cars are still owned by the bank, for that matter some trailers are too! In Massachusetts, the title is not even printed till the vehicle is paid off. This way it is one less piece of paper the bank has to handle and loose in all the recent bank mergers. How does a Uhaul trailer go over the border?? I have seen them! |

Re: Some Canadian Requirements for 2016 National Meet
I recently drove my A across into Canada; all they asked for was a passport.

Re: Some Canadian Requirements for 2016 National Meet
I had a lengthy conversation with the gentleman that is one of the meet hosts and he confirmed the earlier post statements, but addeed that they will be contacting the border 'agents' on a regular basis with specific questions about the Model A event and what we can expect. They are working very hard to make this an eventful and exciting National meet.

The less expensive passport for driving limits you to driving. I know of a case where the person was traveling on one of these and had an emergency but couldn't fly home because of the limits of the drive only passport. Just something to keep in mind.

Re: Some Canadian Requirements for 2016 National Meet
I posted that a "Yellow Card" was needed if you had an accident in Canada in an earlier post. This may be outdated information...even though my insurance company issued me one for my recent trip...we were in Canada with our Model A within the past month. I will do some additional research and report.
