Default 1935-37 scoop oil breather

Does anyone know how to remove the screen on this breather? Can it be done? Has it been done by anyone? Or are we left to just clean it blow it out clean it blow it out. If I remove it is there someone who sells a replacement? The ideal thing I want to do is remove the screen, powdercoat the can(breather) and replace the screen. Thanks everyone.

The only way I have been able to do it is by opening up the scoop. It doesn't take much, the screen is only held it place by a couple of small bosses. As for a replacement screen I just use common window screen and spool it up. Once spooled I just use a couple of pop rivets or wire to keep it spooled. Insert the screen and compress the scoop back into position. I am sure others have done it and they may have a simpler way that works for them.

Hope this helps.

BF,
What FHF said....to ease the installation place a couple thicknesses of wax
paper all around the screen. This will reduce marring of your new finish & keep you
from having to use those special words. It requires some patience to get all the
wax paper removed but it's worth it.

Charlie, I haven't done it, but if it's that difficult to prevent scratching the scoop, I'd think it wise to practice the method before painting the scoop.

Also, has anyone come across any documentation of a scoop on a '37?
