Dome Light wiring at windshield
I am rewiring my dome light on a 31 S/W Fordor. All the pictures I took taking everything apart don't show where the dome light wire was routed down to the terminal box. I must have thought it was a no brainer.
I have the wire from the switch going across the top wood rail then thru the rails to the header. The header had a metal plate nailed over where the wire went thru on the inside. I have the wire thru the header & out to the top of the windshield opening. The windshield hinge has a "U" shaped cutout where the wire comes out of the header. I think the wire then goes across the hinge to the side garnish plate & down to the inside of the car & out to the terminal box. Question is, what holds the wire up to the hinge. |

Re: Dome Light wiring at windshield
This is the routing I improvised on my Victoria. The cowl on a slant windshield sedan is the same.
Look at the top of the "A" Pillar in the 1st photo. You can see the blue wire going inside of the pillar. I fished it out at the dash rail and routed it back into the pillar again. Once inside of the cowl, I routed the wire with the driver's side cowl light wire to the terminal box. Be absolutely sure that the dome light metal housing is well grounded. I ran a separate ground wire to a fastener in the passenger's side "A" Pillar, and checked the ground to assure it had less than 2 ohms resistance.
