I think Reds sells some headers that fit pretty good. Reversing the firewall will gain you a few inches. But that's just on a 30-31. But I allso think by doing that you loose the room for the factory gas tank.

Thanks for responding, I was referring to posts that stated a V8 will go in with everything stock Model A. I've found that it won't fit with stock 2 tooth (later A) 'box, and was wondering if it will fit with a 7 tooth 'box (early A). I personally feel that if it won't clear the late setup, it also won't clear the early.
Trying to fess up how folk have made the V8 go in and not change the steering in any way?
Other than this steering issue, I found the V8 will go in without cutting into the fire wall. If I recall, I did have to trim the flange where the bottom of the tank meets the firewall.
This is with a 28-29 body.
Martin.

We'll keep it going anyway, as there may be others looking to do the same thing. And besides which, it's fun!
Here's old shots of mine, the body was moved back to give engine room.

Whats the info on the steering box?
Is it a right hand version of an F-1/F100 style box
Nice job.

It's a VW Kombi box, I think in the US you call them a VW bus.
