Default 29 Tudor door bumper for door glass question

The door glass and the rear side window glass has a rubber bumper that cushions the glass at the very bottom of its travel. See pix

The metal bracket/holder for that rubber bumper has two small tabs that stick up into the bottom of the rubber bumper. Do I need to create a divot for that tab to fit into the rubber bumper???

I would like to make a guess. It would be nice to see the parts in relationship to size. From a designers point of view I'm thinking that the rubber slides in the grooves to the depth of the standing tip, and the lower one locks it in place.
I may be way off base, because i've never seen one.
Just a guess.

Here's some other pix. The tab that is bent up at a 90* angle may be a stop rather than something that would poke into the bottom of the rubber bumper. If that's the case then how does the rubber part keep from falling out of that metal bracket??

I added another pix--it shows that old rubber bumper being placed towards the inside of the car like the pix #4
