Default AR Fenders

I just picked up a rear fender for my 29 sedan, an AR 28, seems to be shaped different at the rear of the fender. My other fenders are more shovel shaped and this one seems to be more round. Is there differences between the AR front fenders and later 28/29 fenders also?

FYI - The front fender part ids were changed to A-16005-AR and A-16006-AR as of the first 1930 Ford parts list. Prior to that the front fender part ids were A-16005 and A16006.

Your are most likely wanting to know what the different designs were for 1927 through 1929 front fenders. The major change was the frame flange (design 1 had a 7" frame flange, design 2 had a 5-3/4" frame flange, and design 3 had a 3-1/8" frame flange).

Your can read/see the design differences at http://aafords.com/aa-chassis/aa-16000-fenders/#fffsb. This site is for the AA Fords. But, the front fenders used on the AA's were A chassis fenders for 1927-1929.

Thanks Neil, that answered my concerns. I have two sets of fronts and would of course want them to match. Am i correct about the earlier rear fender having a different shape on the bell or rear of the fender?

The restoration guidelines have the information you want. There are photos and a couple of pages between the main section and in the appendix.

I am an AA guy - but page 13-8 of the RGJS shows the "beaver tail rear fender" plus other differences (used through March 1928). Also, page 13-6 shows the 5-3/4" #2 front fender.
