will the ring gear and pinion from a '46 differential fit a model a diff?

Measure the diameter of the rear housing. I be leave the diameter is larger Also the A has three spider gears. The 46 has four

all but early 28, 28-31 and some 32`s are the same. but from there up they are completely different.

No. One clue is that the fact that the pinion gear is supported on the end for late '32 through '48.
