Default engine stamps

I see you can buy engine and frame stamps, I thought it was not legal to re stamp a motor or frame.

I agree with 1930 coupe. It's illegal if you are trying to defraud, but if you are doing it to restore, I'd say fine, do it and say nothing.

How tall are the Ford number stamps? I almost bought a new set today, BUT they were only 1/4" tall.
Wanna' hear STUPID? I sed to myself, "Self, why are there ONLY 9 stamps in the little box"?-----A voice behind me, "Just turn the 6 over, & it's a 9"!-----"OH!" bILL w.

I got a set of number stamps at Harbor Freight. I havent tried using them and don't know if they are the correct size for model A use. I think that they are 1/4 inch.

Over in the swap meet there is an ad for engine stamps that are the correct size and font also includes the star, dash, etc. (Not my ad)

You can purchase Ford stamps from a company called Resto Stamps. They have the "star", the "dash" and the unique 6, and both versions of the 9.

Better hurry up and get a set before the engine stamp police make them unavailable.

Default Original font

I have checked out all of the reproduction stamp sets with the original stampings. I have not found a set that is an exact match to the original stampings. There are some that are real close but none that are exact.

Having the stamps is 100% legal, using them is not. Just like having a gun that can blow somebodies head clean off their shoulders is legal, but doing so is not.

McMaster Carr has the number stamps including the star and they are excellent quality, the Harbor Freight stamps don't compare.

I'm not going to get into the question of legality but my friend Mark sells the correct stamps - the right size and font - and has for years. I've never heard a complaint. I own a set and they look perfect to me. You can contact him with questions: [email protected]
