Default Model A decklid/ rumble seat lid bumper

I usually do well with this sort of item, but this one has me defeated. How in the world do you install these?

Coat the end with a dab of liquid dishwashing soap, and you have to twist and push real hard to get those on. Your post reminded me of the difficulty I had installing the same bumper years ago.

There is a lubricant in the ladies section at the pharmacy that is good for many things! This is one of them! Wayne

They are a real challenge to get in. Then you may have to grind them down if the lid sits to high.

You might also remove excess paint along the rim of the holes, which might give you a bit more room to work the rubbers into.

Thanks for the suggestions. I got all 4 in. lube and twist, and press ( al lot of each). I got some assist from a ratchet clamp that I use for carpentry projects, that helped a lot. Lid fits great now.

The bumper seems to high, which I believe to remember was the case with what I could buy from most of the ordinary suppliers. I believe that I finally bought the correct height bumper from Bob Drake
