Default 1949 mercury - inner garnish moulding removal

Need to pull the drivers door panel off my '49 Merc. I get that the panel itself is attached to the door with clips. I get that before I pop the panel off; I need to remove the upper window garnish moulding / vent window assembly. I have removed the 4 screws; but what is it that retains the vent window from popping out of the door?
Thanks!

I believe this video about the 49 Merc vent window will be a big help.

Thanks for the link; but it didn't reveal the trick. Will keep looking.
Thanks!

The side window support or division bar (just behind the vent) should remain in the car when you pull the molding on the 50 & 51 but I'm not sure about the 49. The 49 set up was harder to work with due to that separate division bar. There may be a screw that holds the division bar at the top. If this is the case, it might affect the molding too. Also check on the bottom of the door for access to division bar screws down there. The molding should come right out since you may have to pull the door panel before you can get to the fasteners at the bottom of the division bar unless the screw are on the bottom of the door. In 1950, they changed the design and put the vent assembly in the door. The door make up should be illustrated in the 1949 Mercury Body Parts Catalogue but I'm not sure if I have the 49 book. Most of my stuff is 50 or 51.

I'm not sure about the 49 but the 50 & 51 cars require a special tool to remove the window crank and that should be the hardest part. The back window vents may stay in the car on Sport Sedans but I'm just not sure about the 49 models.

Got the Door Handle & Window Crank to pop off easily.
Garnish Moulding is loose; but the Vent Window remains attached to the base of the window opening in the door.

That Divider Bar is there; but doesn't seem to affect the Moulding AND Vent from being removed. Its the Vent being attached to the base of the window opening in the door that has me puzzled.

And ALL of that is separate from the Door Panel itself; which doesn't seem to want to pop off the door even though ALL of the retainer clips are popped out of the door.

Thanks

Generally after all the retainer clips are popped out, the panel has to be lifted up and out using the armrest, to disengage one or two hooks that are located at the armrest location.

The vent wing has a spring on the bottom of the extended lower hinge assembly that may be set down in a recess opening in the door. It should only have to be pulled up and out to clear that. I think the baby Lincoln doors had a mechanical crank to open the vent wing but I don't even know if a baby Lincoln door would fit a Mercury in the 49 model year. A lot of the Mercury stuff for 1949 was one year only as they made changes for the 1950 model year. The doors are not even interchangeable. The 50 & 51 doors are but there are subtle differences even between those.

As was mentioned earlier, there are two metal brackets mounted vertically (on 50 & 51 but not sure about 49) hold the armrest to the cardboard door panel and they just slip down into slots cut in the door inner panel.
