Thanks in advance for all the help you folks have been.
I'm messing with the choke/throttle linkages. Some time back I redid the carb, 91-99. The c/t rods don't function much, It is like I have something wrong in my assembly. One rod is too long and the other too short. What gives, please?

Clem, you have them reversed.

39 Ford standard intake. I did not remove them from the dash holes

You guys got me to thinking. We let the truck sit for sometime when I first got it. I know the rods fit and worked at that time. I was still working. A fellow clubber came by and helped figure out what we had and to help get it going. I also got some spares with the truck. Somewhere in the process We found that I had a carb that fit his 40 Ford. He needed it so of course I gave it to him. Could that carb have been built differently? Also we noted that the rubber pivot on the C/T rods was welded in place. I have original rods now thanks to Fordbarn. I'm thinking to try and remove the rods are replace them with the original ones.
The carb on my truck is a 91-99

What has changed since they worked?
A properly assembled 91-99 carburetor is correct for your truck.

Also, what do you mean by a "39 standard intake"?

Truck rods are very different than the passenger car rods.

factory intake. 91-99 carb. I'll replace the C/T rods

Worked in the rods again today. Bought a pair of rods from a Barner. The choke rod has a loop-de-loop to shorten it The Throttle is long as well. I have kept the originals in and made some improvements. the carb us a 91-99 the carb is raised 3/4" by the phenolic block. Wrong carb?

The phenolic spacer is probably the issue. When I added one on my '38 the rods protrude 3/8" - 1/2" into the cab past their previous position on the dash. I just put the same thickness rubber washer in behind the knobs so it looks clean and if I remove the phenolic spacer the rods will fit as they did before.

Did the phenolic block help with vapor lock?

I'm going to say yes but I think I had other issues as well which have since been resolved. Either way I left it on and have not vapor locked since the install.

Thanks Barners. I am still recovering from heart procedures and am very slow. I took time off from car work during the hot summer. I am slowly starting again. Thanks for understanding.
I split 2 short pieces of vacuum hose and put them over the choke/throttle rods. Looks good in the cockpit.

Oh yes, I had a six way last year and it takes a while to get back at it and it�s still not a 100% , probably never will be
