Default Headlight options for 6v

Since the regular type generators aren’t meant to handle the high amp of the newer halogen type lights , are there any lower amp 6v bulbs that put out a good amount of light ?

Or is there any place that sells old style lights or a good alternative??

Got LEDs, turned the generator output right down on the third brush.

Just got around to installing the lights that deucelover suggested. All I can say is WOW
These lights are so bright and produce such a crisp white light .visibility is so good , definitely exceeded my expectations . And they draw so much less amps that it works great with my 6v generator
Thanks so much deuce lover , my car is a pleasure to drive at night now , and WAY safer from a visibility standpoint

Changed all the bulbs in my house to LEDs. Best part other then electrical/amps usage and heat is you only have to change them every 10-30 yrs or so. \

Thank you for following up!

Don't get the blue light ones. Warm light versions are most like the incandescent light. Blue/white is like a florescent bulb. LEDs have come down a bunch and have high watt outputs, since 5 yrs ago. Cheap way to save a buck to spend on a ford.

Thanks to your thread and deuce, I saved that link. Brighter lights on 6v.

When I changed my house over a couple of years ago COSTCO had the best price. The change definitely pays for itself (probably in about a year).

Be sure to do the high wattage/high usage ones first since they will give you the greatest payback.

Which LED bulbs to select to replace the dual filament headlight and taillight bulbs in a '34 Ford?

These LEDs are great but how do you convert an old Ford seal beam lamp to accommodate these bulbs?

You can get semi-sealed beams that take an H4 bulb and LED replacements are available for H4 bulbs at 100 british pounds ($180 NZ) they are not cheap.

Home leds? 10yrs probably, 30 your guess is as good as mine.

The early leds were made well. Who knows now. Heck we can put a man on the moon but you can't keep a bumper from falling off a 70s Cadillac. No money in letting it stay on.

Have a porch light that's never turned off. going on 4 yrs now.

Can you get these from a US supplier. Hate to deal with foreign sources.

Are these available with the front glass shaped like our originals and not flat which is an instant give away as not being original? I want to stick with an all original appearance. I put some Hellas on my RV and they are totally flat on the front glass.

I've got Cibie on a couple of my cars. (7-inch, round, like 6012H used on most 50's, 60's cars) They are not flat, but rather, convex, shaped like originals. They take the H4-type bulb. I've had them around 30-40 years. But note, even though they have the original shape, they are still an instant giveaway, because the glass diffusion pattern is different, doesn't match original, at all. On the plus side, I think they are great, as they are substantially brighter than 6012H, and the light is 'focused', with a sharp cutoff at the top. (No stray light up in the trees)
JMHO

Looks to me like these Cibie's, with the 6V H4's that duecelover posted, would be a pretty good option for 40-55 cars.

(I see Cibie on-line, at Walmart, Amazon, e-bay, and several other places.)

(If you are looking on-line, check out VintageCarLED VCm35-7 inch kit. It's like Cibie, but the diffusion pattern is more like 6012H - ie, more like original. $209 pair)
