Don't you hate when this happens?? AND I was trying to get the hose nipple OUT, not tighten it...

Plus, All of the used parts I can find for sale to replace this are almost $100!

Yep, it sure looks like someone who thought that JB weld was the perfect solution for a broken part, put a layer of it inside to fix it. (guess that didn't pan out to be a permanent solution)

I've always been a 94 guy, they seem easier to find here. Never had a 97. I hope you can find a decent used part to repair it.

What is worse is that somebody trusted JB Weld or something similar to not only fix the prior problem, but to also NOT LEAK and potentially cause a fire.

Now this is going to sound bad, but it is actually a good thing that it snapped off - as it prevents the carb from being used "as is" . . . now it will be fixed - with a new carb center as it should have the first go round.

Just put a "Want Add" in for a new center section - you might find one for less than a complete carb core.

JB Weld is good for certain things, but that could cause your car to burn to the ground.

I've seen it work when exposed to gasoline before ethanol was added years ago. I've seen carbs using fuel with 10% ethanol, where the JB Weld starts to deteriorate.

Is it bad that i figure, in a pinch, you could drill tiny holes either side & bond it slightly with solder?

I have a 97 with an extra 3-16” hole drilled in the top of the bowl. Was thinking JB weld to fill it, but now I’m thinking I should tap it for a plug.
