Default 1932 Roadster - Rubber Goods

Hello All,

I have a '32 Brookville bodied roadster.
I came across this site....
https://thirdgenauto.com

I noticed some rubber goods that I do not have, which I am considering.
But...I am unfamiliar with how one would affix the items to the body; hope someone can help advise:

1. Trunk Lid Seal - Is it as simple as using weatherstrip adhesive?
https://thirdgenauto.com/product/new...runk-lid-seal/

2. Lower Door Seal - My Brookville has no holes (for clips I assume?)
https://thirdgenauto.com/product/193...or-both-rears/

3. Gas Tank Apron Channel Seal Kit - I don't understand where any of this goes
https://thirdgenauto.com/product/new...nnel-seal-kit/

Thank you!

Thirdgenauto will not sell you junk. Michael there is wonderful. Most people I know try to use an original rubber strip between the firewall and cowl as the remake is too thick and solid and won't compress. I have good used originals in both of my 32s. In case you are going to use an original firewall in the BV body I thought you might like to know that. Good luck.

Originally, '32 cabriolets, coupes, and roadsters were not equipped with rubber deck/rumble lid seals. Those came into use with the '33 models. The subject seals could be used on your car if you wish and yes, adhesive would be required to keep the seal in place.

The depicted lower door seal is for '32-'34 body types other than '32 phaetons and roadsters. The correct lower door seal for those two body types has a T-shaped cross section with the vertical portion of the T elongated and the horizontal portion quite short to fit into a C-shaped steel channel spot welded to the bottom of the doors (the opening in the channel faces downward). The last time I looked at a Brookville roadster body's doors, those channels were not included as part of their doors.

The last group of rubber parts are perhaps better known as for the frame horn covers that fill the gap between the rear fenders and the gas tank on '32 passenger cars as shown in the photo below. The elongated pieces of rubber fit on the tank-side edge to prevent metal-to-metal contact with the tank and the round rubber spacers/bumpers fit into holes in the top of the frame horn cover to prevent metal-to-metal contact with the underside of the rear of the car's body. The illustration in the referenced catalog listing shows those applications. (Early '32 frame horn covers only have one round rubber spacer/bumper per side while later versions of those frame horn covers have two per side.)

The door seals can be attached with sheet metal screws. You can also drill holes and use plastic fasteners. I tried a truck seal on my coupe but could not make it work for me.

From what I understand Michael at 3rd Gen prefers to be contacted by phone. That way he can answer any questions you might have. He won't steer you wrong.

We make the retainer channels, and have a seal that will work well (though not 100% correct).

Some pictures. Early and late frame horn covers. Steel channel pieces were removed from the bottom of a pair of phaeton doors.

Karl,
Good to know!

Tom,
Seven different varieties of the frame horn covers have turned up worldwide.

1962300,
Welcome. Lots of folks on here that should be able to help and several suppliers as you have found. Good luck with your 32!
Karl,
I was also reviewing some of your printed literature and was happy to see you had many items for 32 trucks too.
Regards,
Chris

Since I have NO fenders....I guess the Gas Tank Apron Channel Seal Kit wouldn't apply to my car....now that I look at it all.
