Default turn signals for a 40 deluxe

Ok so next project is to put turn signals on the 40 Deluxe. I plan to buy the kits for using the park lamps in the headlight bezels and a switch to mount to the column. I plan to utilize the rear light housings as well. I also plan to install the brightest lamps I can which may mean LED.

Rather than reinvent the wheel here I thought I would ask you guys for advise on the best kit or parts and a wire diagram to do this job so it looks good and causes the least amount of headaches.

Thank you in advance.

First thing we need to know is 6 or 12 volts.

For my six volt I found seven wire turn signals worked well. I have leds in back and they needed inline resistors to activate the flasher. Kits come with wire diagram. It’s not a difficult job, but you will need a good test light.

If 12V I might be able to help with one small aspect of it.

Sorry guys, yes 6 volt system. That black canister is an optional air cleaner offered by Ford in 40.

It appears to be an accessory air cleaner(Ford accessory) for the large commercial vehicles.

Yeah, but where did the picture "51504bat" posted come from? What am I missing?

If some of us can see pictures in posts and some of us can't it would explain some strange stuff.

See post number 11 for the link to the photo. It was from a previous posting by 41panelmark when he first got his new toy.

On my '41 I got lot's of comments about how dim my tail lights and turn signals were.
I bought an LED conversion kit for the tail lights. It is now fabulously bright. I highly recommend it. Ken Check 541 653 8835 [email protected]

When I put turn signals in my '40 I refused to pay $45 for the kit which is basically just two sockets with tabs on them and mini globe bulbs. I picked up some universal sockets for a few bucks from the auto store and spot welded tabs I made from scrap on them. I picked up the mini globe bulbs from the motorcycle shop, but they are available online also. Worked great! The kit is just paying for the convenience of it being in one box for you.
