I have used an electric in line fuel pump to pump oil in where pressure gauge connects to the engine

You dont need anything else. As others have said, pull the plugs, turn the engine on the starter until pressure comes up, install plugs, start engine. Done.

You've all missed one crucial part of the procedure - you have to cross your fingers.

I made a pressure tank, like Walt Dupont had once suggested here, to hopefully get some oil circulating to bearings prior to spinning the engine with plugs out. I also pack the oil pump gears with Vasciline to help get the pump going. I was actually able to get a few psi indication on the mechanical gauge by hand turning the engine at the front crank pulley bolt using a 3/4" drive socket, extension and ratchet. Once I saw this slight indication I cranked it with the starter and got a 30-40 psi reading. I know Henry never did all this at the plants on a new engine but when I have lots of $,$$$'s invested in a rebuild, I prefer to make sure I have oil pressure before start up.

I 'm with ol' Ron, but if you want a simple primer use a garden bug sprayer
filled with oil instead of insecticide. Pump up the pressure, adjust the nozzle to stream and hold it tightly into the plug hole Ron mentioned. Do this until you see oil flowing. On an OHV watch for oil flow at the rocker shaft.

Dash gauges have never been known for their accuracy.

Here is a picture of the one I made out of a B 81 Mack secondary oil filter.
Over kill Yes but I can use the shop air pressure and I don't need to keep pumping.
But the garden sprayer will work Quight well.
