1931 Model A owners manual
I know they are called instruction book. How can you tell an original from a reprint? Obvious would be the condition but one of the dumbest things I ever did was giveaway a mint original a few years back thinking I will never get a '31. I do know it was an original because a guy who bought the car new gave it to my da 54 years ago,we had a '30. The '31 manual that I had I never paid attention if it was for early or late, mine(car) is an early one.

Re: 1931 Model A owners manual
I have one for the '29 (Copyrighted 1928), and "reprinted" with FMC permission
by PolyPrints San Francisco, CA. It has the E-brake lever in front of the shifter like our Coupe, flea market find, so fine for a driver.. maybe not for fine point judging.! kb |

Re: 1931 Model A owners manual
There were at least 13 different versions of the Ford Model A Instruction Book published for US-built cars and trucks: 5 in 1928, 2 in 1929, 4 in 1930, and 2 in 1931. The following paragraphs outline the differences in the manuals so that owners of Model A Fords looking for a manual that matches the production date of their vehicles can identify which version might have been supplied with the vehicle when new.
The first and easiest way to identify the manuals is to look for the copyright date, which was always printed on the first or second page of the manual (although the first 4-5 pages were unnumbered.) Once you have identified the correct year, the version can be ascertained by noting the pictures in the manuals. Consult the MAFCA/MARC Restoration Guidelines and Judging Standards, Area 17 - Tools, for additional information. Use the below link to the MAFCA website for info on original and reproduction owners manuals. http://mafca.com/tqa_instructionbooks.html
