Default Radiator Shroud on a 1941 Pickup

Is anyone here using a shroud for their 1941 truck? First of all, does it help that much, and secondly, where did you get it?
The only one I can find is from CG's and it lists the part as being for '42-'47 only.
I can't find one for a 1941.
Also, anyone using the upper grill air deflector. it seems like a good idea too.

My info shows a no. 01T 8146 for 40-41 but all the fan shrouds were originally for the bigger trucks not the 1/2T pickups so I cant promise you that they will or will not fit. The shroud can make a big difference depending on were your fan is located.

My radiator is so tall and the fan seems to be extremely low, over half way down. Is this normal?

Yeah, that's right. Crank mounted fans put them down low.

What does help a lot is having the side panels and lower deflector in place to direct the air through the radiator on a 40 41 pu.

Mine are still in place, but would the upper grill deflector help too?

Yes they are the same as a 40 car. 2 are half moon and bolt to the inner fender with the grill, the other bolts under the radiator to the frame.

The upper grill deflector would also help. You could buy the one made by Drake or make your own from sheetmetal. It keeps the upward air loss to a minimum and diverts it through the radiator.

Does anyone know of a full shroud that will work in my 1941 pickup?

What people are trying to tell you is that you shouldn't need a shroud for a 41 pickup. You didn't say why you were looking for one.

Are you having overheating problems?

I'm not trying to be an arse, but you might be trying to apply a bandaid when the actual problem may lie elsewhere.

I totally understand where you're coming from. I just figure since I can fry an egg on my hood after a 10 mile drive, it wouldn't hurt to concentrate some of that air where it might do some good. I don't see how a shroud would hurt any vehicle.

I use a Walker shroud for a '40 Ford on my '41 1/2 ton. If you have the latest Speedway catalog check out page 210. I mounted my shroud 180 degrees from that ahown, works very well.

If you are having heating issues no shroud will cure them. How hot is the pickup getting?

I will mention here that the shroud on my '41 did help quite nicely. The crank mounted

fan on these vehicles is far from centered to the radiator. Prior to the shroud I tried
the rag on the radiator stunt, it fell right off, with the shroud in place the rag clung
to the rad ( engine running fan spinning in both cases of course ).....anyhoo it worked
for me.

Since the truck is so new to me, I haven't been able to get a temp reading on it other than relying on the factory gauge that gets up to 3/4 pretty fast. It doesn't loose pressure or anything, but it does get so hot under the hood that you can't leave the palm of your hand on top of it more than a split second. I haven't even driven it on a day that's more than 80 degrees yet. I figure I would try the easy stuff first, it couldn't hurt. I'll have to find someone near me with a heat temp gun, or a good thermometer.

The head where the water exits, the top section of the radiator and the bottom of the radiator. The temp would be whatever you want it to run at. If it was me, I would want 185 to 190 exiting the heads.
