Almost as much salt as a Minnesota hwy in January!

Those small aftermarket headlights will be good for an extra 0.3 mph. Good luck with your runs.

If he hadn't said "Salt Flats" I would have thought North Carolina mountains road . Last year I followed a trail from my home all the way to Raleigh NC, 3hours away. A distinct trail of whatever they spray when they don't use granulated salt or whatever it is. I know it seems like we are to far south to be in the rust belt but there's northern areas that don't get the salt we do. I dread it already.

Good luck on your run at Bonneville. Worked with an engineer at Tucson who was running a streamliner car powered by a Kawasaki 1100cc engine. Was getting over 200 mph.

Is the engine painted red? That ALWAYS makes 'em go faster.

Awesome car. Does the windshield visor catch much wind at speed? I have seen "vented" visors on other Hot Rods.

Good luck on your Speed Runs.

I don't understand...…
The object of running at Bonneville is to go fast. The car is currently running a 4:11 rear end ratio.... With a modified high horsepower engine, (relatively speaking), why is he not running a 3:27 ratio or at least a 3:54 ratio??

Good Luck Derek

I'm guessing you have an overdrive with that 4:11 rear end

650Holly ? Maybe you intend to use all of that 8000 RPM tach

Dave all good here, this a great site, least it aint a ratty rod, no racing till Tuesday courses too wet , had lots of model A guys today , one is an expert on carbs ,listen to my engine , then took a tire valve pulled it apart, got the tiny spring out, cut it in 1/2 & put each piece in to jam the two pump valves , now will be hard to start but ran much sweeter, amazing the help we get just cause its a Model A, so ill keep posting what ever happens, The dream is to crack the 100 with stock body,A-B engine flat head, A trans, A rear, non turbo , Several A-B block engines running, the tricks those guys learn may help to preserve our original A,s Certainly created lots of interest,

Quickchange, you mention an Eaton Blower. Is it similar to the Eaton blower that was on the 3.8 Super Coupe T-Bird? Thanks.

Good luck Derek. When i was helping pit on the Demon streamliner, Tonya was pitted next to us two years in a row. I remember that coupe very well. I will be tuning in listening to Slim on the broadcast, since i will not be there. Hope Tuesday dries out and is a good day to run. Mark.

So do you run with a pair of original engine-to-frame splash pans? Or?
Love to get a look under the hood...
Great machine!

Show is over for us, only got 3 cylinders, suspect a valve, Maybe Henry put mushrooms on his valves for a reason ??They shut the course down early due too conditions, may open tomorrow if a new track can be prepared, its rough, line up row 18" deep ruts, hundreds never got to run yet, one two wheeler thought he could fly, WRONG, Once back in kiwi land we will strip engine & report, might just be collets come off, who knows , Derek from a hot USA heading to a cold New Zealand (after Turlock swap meet )

Best of luck in the future.

You've got time, pull the head and have a look. Many of us have made repairs much more serious than a valve, and were able to make more runs.

Jim normally, but due to conditions there, they shut down early hoping to get one course going Wednesday, After 5 days it was time to call it, even repaired if simple be lucky to get a run, due to long line ( hundreds waiting, the feed roads we had trouble even driving on in a truck, ruts 12" deep @ soft, Need a day or so to clean up ready for shipping , Had lots of help there, Just gutted for my crew including ron , Both my boy & kit have had a great experience, maybe be back, Kit has a stock roadster & Darrin eyeing up one back home , so if the hobby gains more interest not all lost apart from my pension fund, ??? its 103* in USA & minus a little in NZ

Jim,
The conditions were not optimum, only two courses, shortened and long wait lines.
Creel was in line Tuesday morning at 6:30, finally ran Wed about noon.
The rookie course was better but at less than two miles made it really only for short testing.
Madole ran about 85 on the rookie course and said it was like driving in the snow.
I didn't even take mine out of the trailer, I needed 3 miles minimum.

Take care, J

Too bad, but thanks for the reports. I understand about those long lines, years ago there was only 1 course, and the line was looooong!
