I've thought about it all day long. It's a good thing I was not at the signing ceremony in Tokyo Bay.

I told my wife this morning that it's like nobody remembers anymore, it
was on page 6 in the local news paper.

Seems like too many really important prats of our history don't matter to so many people.
My 52 Vicy is more patriotic than some folks i know. Love the nation, love my 6 volt system & my 3 speed overdrive; and the men who died so we can be free to drive our old Fords. GOD bless the VETS & The Troops ! mike

My father was in the North Dakota Nat. guard on Dec. 7th 1941. The unit was nationalized after the attack and he spent the next 5 years in the army and a lot of time in the pacific island hopping. RIP Dad.

I put the flag out yesterday I'm sure the younger neighbors wondered why, that is if they even noticed. Most young people seem to be ignorant or at least uncaring about what really made this country great.

Hey Ol'Ron, Fox Lake was a tiny little place in those days, you probably wouldn't recognize it now! That was a very solemn day for my parents every year. They made sure we did not forget !!!

There was little mention of it in our papers too.

The last area survivor of the local P.H. Survivor's Assoc. died Tuesday, and they are burying him on the 7th as a tribute to his service. 93 years old.

I guess, sadly, that is life. To not talk about WWII events. Or other notable American History events. Heck the youth today think Vietnam is ancient history and when you think about it, it WAS a lot of years ago. Our schools today don't want to teach the kids about our History.

Jay Leno, when he would do his 'Jay Walking' episodes, would ask college age kids basic History and Geography questions and they didn't have a clue what he was talking about.

Yes, got a good crop of people coming up in this country today. No wonder we are light years behind the Asians and Europeans in about everything our schools are so dumbed down.............

I was born in 1946 but I always remember that event. Many documentaries on TV this past week in Australia and I always watch them. Most of the younger generations and school age kids would not have a clue about past wars and don't seem to be interested in any history very much. Only sports and football and partying fills their minds. All very sad in my book. Lest we forget. Regards, Kevin.

We remember December of 1941 in the US but it was September of 1939 for a lot of our fellow barn members overseas. I always remember June 6 1944 and August 6, 1945 too.

Most young kids just look at you funny when you mention VE or VJ days. They have no idea what you are talking about. Fewer yet even know that Veterans day used to be Armistice Day or even what war ended on that day. It's up to us to educate them I guess.
