Thumbs up Zimmco Wins a Best-Of-Show

Hi Everyone, Congratulations are in order because FordBarn Member Zimmco won a Best-Of-Show award today in Maryland at the beautiful Howard County Living Farm Heritage Museum. http://www.farmheritage.org/

He debuted his freshly restored Dearborn Blue 1935 'Pickup' and it looks like it could have been sitting on the showroom floor. The paint was perfect but not over-done, the interior perfect, the engine compartment was so clean and impressively sorted, the wiring, everything on this truck is just cool.

There were nearly seventy entries, probably fifteen or more FordBarn members were in attendance, a great turnout, considering everyone woke-up to light rain. A wide variety from Model A's to a 2000+ model years. Some of our member families traveled through states to attend this meet driving three cars over seventy miles!

There was a panel of three judges, and full-disclosure, I was one of them.

Great restoration on a really cool vehicle!

Maybe Zimmco or another 'Barner who was at the show will post a few photos?

Edit: Photos of all cars and people at this show welcome!

Jeff, just by some coincidence I happen to have a couple pictures of Al's beautiful '35 pickup taken at the show today....

I forgot to mention a couple things in my picture post.....

As I understand, Al did everything on this truck himself except for the paint, and that was done by "The Bad Donkey Garage" in Hanover, Pa. They have done some very excellent work on 4 or 5 cars owned by members of our EFV-8 Club, RG36.

Also, for those who plan to go to the EFV-8 C/A, Eastern National Meet this June, in Charlotte/Concord, NC, you will get to see Al's beautiful pickup in person.

Beautiful truck, but the engine pictures bring up the question, did the trucks come with cast iron, engine green color intake manifolds?

Beautiful restoration. It's a truck that looks like a truck...not all dolled up with white walls, etc.

Thanks for sharing.

Zimmco, Very nice restoration!

To answer Keith, OH. statement...35 pickups had aluminum intake manifolds and heads.

I don't think so.

Not to steal Al's thunder, but here are a few pictures of a beautifully done '35 Panel Delivery that received its Dearborn Award at the 2014 CNM in Springfield, Illinois. I don't think Don Rogers would have used the wrong intake manifold on this one.

Don, you beat me to it

There continues to be some confusion regarding heads and intakes on 1935 vs 1936 pickups and panel deliveries. 1935 pickups and panel deliveries had aluminum heads and intakes while 1936 used cast iron. All large trucks used cast iron for both years.

I was given a '36 engine that was removed from an original '36 pickup and was assured it was the engine that came in this truck when new. It has cast iron intake manifold and heads, and is also an LB.
Purchased a '35 coupe last December from the son of the original owner, and he claims his Dad installed a '36 truck engine in this car many years ago. It also has cast iron intake and heads. Heads have pn's that indicate domed pistons. I'm hoping this is also an LB engine.
These engines support what you are saying about cast iron for intake and heads for '36 pickups/trucks.

Don, I didn't make a STATEMENT, I asked a QUESTION concerning the intake manifolds delivered on 35 trucks since I have heard answers from so called experts both ways. Thank you for clearing it up with your reliable expert knowledge.
