1938 Headlamp Changeover
One of the projects I had in mind in early spring was to change the headlamps on our '38 Convertible from the aftermarket sealed beam units back to original style. Many months and miles later the project seems to be done with some hiccups along the way. The original buckets were intact and unmolested so I just needed to find the rest of the pieces to do the changeover. Thanks to Michael at Third Gen. Automotive and other vendors the look is what I had in mind. If anyone has an interest in the seal beam units they are available for the shipping costs, the plating is good and they worked fine, just not what I wanted.

A big improvement IMO! I really like the look of the original headlights.

Nice job! In photo #3, is that a relay for the headlights? If so, who is the manufacturer. |

No name on the relay, here's a pic of the inside. I have a Barn member who contacted me that will be getting the sealed beams and relay.

Re: 1938 Headlamp Changeover
Just wondering why you removed the relay after you fitted the original headlamps. The relay could have helped the voltage on those lights just like it did on the sealed beams. Regards, Kevin.

Re: 1938 Headlamp Changeover
Tried the new lights without the relay and thought they work for me. The number of times I'll be driving after dark are few if even at all. And if you would have seen the rats nest of wiring to the relay and back you would at least replaced the wiring.
