Default 28/29 gas cap marking question (ID help)

Two caps with consistent vertical markings all the way around. A telltale sign of a reproduction?

Original gas caps were vented but not with a hole in the top...picture is of a 28-29 cap.

Original radiator caps were not vented. The radiator vents through the overflow tube.

Both would have been plated brass.

The Judging Standards have a whole page (15-8) of line drawings of the different styles and years.
