33 Radiator
Hi all, looks like I'm up for a new rad and looking for some input from Barners.
I want a stock standard drop in reproduction type. Been looking at Brassworks and wondering if others have used their repos. If so any hassles. I've sent an E-mail requesting cost, availability & shipping to Aust. Any feedback would be much appreciated. Kpar |

Re: 33 Radiator
Could it not be an option to go to a local radiator shop and have them recore your original radiator with the understanding that your top and bottom tanks are suitable for this. There are places here for this and am sure you have the same across the ditch.

Re: 33 Radiator
I bought one for my 33 a few months ago, took 9 weeks to get it, 4lb pressure system, dummy neck. No problems with fit. I would do it again.

I bought a new radiator from Brassworks for my 34 a few months ago. I asked for an original looking show quality radiator. That is just what they shipped me. 8 week delivery. I would do it again

Re: 33 Radiator
All I had to do was drill a hole on each foot. I set the radiator in its place, attached the support rods, (be sure to remove fan), and installed top radiator hoses. Crawled under car, center punched the bottom of each foot, drilled hole, installed bolt, spring, nut. I used my original grill mounting brackets. If I was to get picky, I did have to grind bracket bolt heads down a tad to get them in the mounting holes. They will go over order with you, several options, over flow tank, fan relief in top, etc, and it ships in a heavy duty custom fitted box. Just do it.

Re: 33 Radiator
BrassWorks custom makes each one, be sure you are very specific on what you want. I had them build a mostly stock 33 tank with a few modifications, excellent workmanship!

If your Radiator looks solid you can un sweat the top with a propane torch ,run the solllder out then rod it out with a law mower spring .Ted

Re: 33 Radiator
Have yours recored and the dents taken out, nothing beats Ford's Original Parts!

Re: 33 Radiator
I spent about $1000 having my original 32 V8 radiator recored -- had to bring it back twice and they didn't set the tanks exactly right (on the top) and there was an issue with the grill shell. They 'fixed it' in the end, but in retrospect, I wished I'd sent mine to Brassworks and just had them build be a 'stock style' one - with a dummy filler on the top and a 4 lb pressure cap . . . would have been a LOT better off.

Re: 33 Radiator
Geez sorry to hear that. Guess it depends on who does the work. Had mine done on my 34 and I believe it was under 600.00 6 yrs. ago. I couldn't be happier with the job and I thought that was a high price!! I must be getting old and not realizing prices are rising (dad nab it) as my Grandfather would say rest his soul!

Re: 33 Radiator
I did mine about 18 months ago after I passed a radiator fan blade through it
Cost was about $900 NZ or about $ 650 US. I made them build a jig before they took the tanks off to hold every thing aligned correctly on reassembly-No problems -Karl |

Thanks all for your comments, much appreciated.
Have bit the bullet and ordered a repo from brassworks, what the heck it's only money. The 33 is more important. Kpar |

Re: 33 Radiator
Keith, I hope you don't get too big a shock when it arrives here in Australia because the customs import duty plus GST tax will be added to anything valued at Aust $1000.00 or more. Plus the shipping as well. Regards, Kevin.
