Question door handle removal help needed 48 coupe

I got a 48 ford coupe, flathead, 5 speed. The driver outside door handle locked up on me. The inside works fine but the outside will not turn! So i'm trying to remove it. Do I have to remove the door molding to get it out? How is this thing held in place anyway. I know I put it in the door 20 plus years ago when I built the car but old age is killing me. How does the inside work but the outside won't?

Any help would be appreciated..

In the area where the rubber weatherstrip is there should be a screw that goes in at about a 45 deg.angle. (remove screw )
It's probably not the handle but the latch mechanism.
Also move the inside handle fully forward and try to open from outside.
Then move fully back and try to open.
