attaching interior panels
The upholstered interior curved, rear quarter panel has come loose in my 1931 Delux Coupe.
Also a corner of the interior panel in the footwell of the rumble seat is loose. What is the "authentic" method to fix these? Thanks! |

Re: attaching interior panels
It is close to Halloween so go ahead cut old Brad's head off and use him to hold the panel.

Re: attaching interior panels
The straight brads are then pulled thru the fabric but just enough to leave them in the upholstery board. Careful work

Re: attaching interior panels
I had the same problem and used 18 gauge x 3/4" headless brads driven into the wood around the windows and frame. I used a pair of needle nose pliers to hold the brad while I gently hammered it through the panel until it was completely through the upholstery. No marks whatsoever remain. Worked like a charm. I did add #6 trim screws on the leading edge of the quarter panels to prevent them from being pulled off by someone's huge derriere sliding into the driver's seat (which is how the panel got dislodged to begin with). I covered the screws with color coordinated plastic trim screw covers.
