Default 1934 Head gaskets

Time to put new head gaskets on my '34 Brewster Town Car, Ford engine and drive train with Aluminum Heads. Some say NO COPPER, others don't say. What should I use? I have the old fiber style with steel rings around the openings, also some steel clad. My guess is that the steel would be bad because of electrolysis. I also see that Mac's has the new style with the sealant compound. Would prefer to use the fiber ones I already have unless that is a BAD idea.

Should I use the copper spray adhesive. Years ago we used to brush on a light film of white lubriplate to encourage a bit of slide when torqued down?

Any recommendations on torque specs? I know lower than cast iron but how much lower.

Radiator has been cleaned. Used my pressure washer to flush lots of junk out of the block. Repaired the heads and ground the water openings to match a cast iron head and the gasket openings.

Thanks, Don

Go to this link for torque specs > http://www.vanpeltsales.com/FH_web/f...rque-specs.htm

Use your fiber gaskets and CRC copper spray adhesive is OK to use....

I just put new aluminum heads on my 34 roadster used fibre gaskets, Permatex high temp copper spray adhesive and had no head gasket leaks. I do highly recomend following the torque and re-torque specs.

Mac's sells Felpro head gaskets for the aluminum heads. Use spray adhesive. I use those and they work great. DO NOT use copper gaskets on aluminum heads!!!!----See Vanpeltsales for torque specs.----After installation----
Drive car till it gets warm. Let it cool. Re-torque. Do this three times.

Kearney Pattern Works who manufacturers (Among other things) original '33 aluminum heads, would not sell me their heads if I intended to use copper gaskets.

Wow, What a Grand Classic old Ford. Great photo in a great location. Here it is enlarged so all can see it better.

Hemmings have a similar 1934 Brewster Ford Town Car at their Museum at Bennington, Vermont.
