Default Horn Motor

Does anyone make a replacement horn motor? I broke the end off mine on disassembly T I A RAY

Yes, there are new reproduction horns being made but I doubt that you can just purchase the motor portion from the manufacturer. I would suggest you contact one of the horn rebuilders, they may have a spare motor or whatever part of the motor that is damaged. Lastly, find a used horn like yours that is cosmetically challenged and just buy it for the motor (if it works).

Try contacting A&L, they're the ones making the new horns. No website, located in New Hartford, CT.

Some have reverse threads. Perhaps that is what happened to yours.?

Stewart Warner has left hand threads on the end of the armature that hold the ratchet wheel on. They can be repaired bur it is a challenge.

Ray,

You can drill a hole in the shaft and thread it with right hand threads or left hand and use a new screw. Take it to your friendly machine shop and have it done correctly. About $10 bucks is what they charge me around here. If it is right hand threads, you will need to reverse the field current for a right hand threads or the screw will soon come loose. Should you need me, I am here.
