THe movie company was well run and well insured. And a friend of mine was involved in getting the cars. He had three of his own in the project.
All went well but is was Horribly boring after a while. |

It's not just southerners...those snobs do that to everyone...movie shoots can get very trying but they do help pay for car parts.

Not for the movies, but participated in a photo shoot for a local playhouse performance of 'Driving Miss Daisy' several years ago.
After seeing all the equipment, setup and positioning, the final shot that was used probably could have been done with a less than $100 digital camera, operated by any passerby.

In the early '80s, I made around $1,000 having my 55 Chevy conv filmed for several TV ads for a local parts store. It was fun and I got a vhs tape with the footage.

I’ve had cars in 5 movies.
The going rate the last 10 years is $350 a day. One movie used three of my cars each day for a couple of days. That’s $1,050 a Day! The cars were parked on a street on a side hill one day and filmed as Joquin Phoenix walked by them in the movie The Masters. When we did the movie Valley of the Heart’s Delight a spectator keyed the side of a ‘29 Maxwell. The movie company coughed up $5,000 to repaint the car. One night (same movie)they were gonna film a ‘32 model B pickup that wouldn’t start. The gas tank had a bunch of tiny green beads in it. The fuel pump was jammed with them. I drained the gas tank and they had a cop that was with us for security drive me about 10 miles to where I worked and I got an electric fuel pump and some jumper wires and got the pickup running. Then when it got dark they noticed the leading star’s model A roadster had one headlight burned out. So the cop drove me back to where I worked again and I grabbed three headlight bulbs out of the seven model A cars my boss had sitting in a row. The movie company gave me an extra $250 for those two repair jobs on top of the $300 a day we were getting at that time for one car I had that was also filmed that night as it chased the B pickup. |

I had a 1961 Hillman Minx they wanted to hire for an advertisement a few years back but I turned them down. You see I had car friend who had the 39 barrel nose in this advert that screened on NZ TV many years back......he got it back as a wreck from the insurance company. Story goes that some of the film crew took it to a pub on the West coast where they did some of the filming ( south Island NZ), got on turps and then proceeded to roll it.
Here's the ad, sorry for poor quality https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAVaS7SzgQE
